Ode To My Rats

You
Who are so small and skittish
With your whiskers and soft fur,
Who prance around on my bed
And eat my pillowcases.
You
Who make me so happy
With your small kisses
And little grabbing paws.
You
With your affinity for banana baby food,
Frolicking in the trash can
And making daring escapes from the cage
To come nibble on my pants leg.
I have never been so happy
About something
That shits all over my desk.
